David Meeker's "Jazz in the movies" is now out of print but numerous copies
(of both editions) are listed at abe.com.
Many of the entries are not OKOM and the index is frustrating (it gives an
incomplete listing of individual names only, not band names) but it's well
worth a look. The range of short subjects ("soundies") in the 1930s is
remarkable.
