Dear Listee`s especially Bass Players !

With all this talk about the Double Bass. alternatives and amps, it
occurred to me that one should mention what Ross Anderson has done. He
is the bassist/leader of the New Melbourne Jazz Band from the land of Oz
and modest as they come. He would never post this himself, but if I were
a bass player I would want to know about it. He happens to be an
excellent one ads his CDs will attest.

I am in possession of one of his brochures about his wonderful carved
bass, that is also quite portable and seems to me to be relatively
inexpensive. The following is from his brochure which I asked for
several months ago out of curiosity

The " Anderson Bass" Package (the Bass with thomastic strings and
adjustable bridge + Big Max pickup + Soft Bag + Hard Case) ""PRICE"" $
3,000 US dollars includes shipping to nearest major Airport . The Bass
front and back are hand carved with thumb planes . The all up weight is
only 25 kilos, which makes it ideal for air travel . You can even go to
local gigs and just lay it on the back seat of your car!!! Nothing
hanging out of windows.

It is highly portable, yet looks much like a full sized, hand carved
bass. If you play the bass, you should check out his web site, linked
below for your convenience.
