All this stuff about ears. When I really get into the grove as a =
listener, and the music is hot ,I invariably close my eyes, stomp my =
feet and hear magic that people who are looking for affectations by the =
musicians must miss.=20

To hear the intracacies of contrapuntal playing demands full time =
concentration that trying to see what dress the band is wearing, who is =
trying to please the audience by gyrations on stage, or otherwise =
whooping and hollering is counter productive.  This is probably why 95% =
of my jazz listening is to sources that have no visual content.
=20
Live jazz can be good, but IMHO there are very few bands that I have =
heard that can match the bands that we cannot see live anymore.
