Bad news for jazz people with connections with Birmingham, UK: Tony
Davis has already reported the death of Ray Foxley, pianist with the Ken
Colyer band of the '50's and '60's and all-round great musician (he lead
a bop/post-bop band playing Horace Silver-type material in the '70's).

Now comes news of the death of alto sax and bass-drum specialist George
"Spock" (or "Spocke", to be precise) Morgan, formerly with Danny
Pawson's Artesian Hall Stompers and the Martin Boreman (!) marching
band.

Both these guys were wonderful musicians and outstanding human beings.
I, for one, feel privileged to have known them and played with them.
