The Hot Five Jazzmakers are appearing at a dinner/dance on NYE in the Gibson
Ballroom of The Novotel, North York, Toronto.   It may be of interest to
jazz fans within reasonable reach of Toronto.
Fans in the USA can enjoy an evening's good jazz, with kindred spirits for
company, at Canadian prices.  The hotel is the Novotel, North York, Toronto
and they are making rooms available for us at CAN$139 for NYE, inclusive of
a full buffet breakfast. This is quite a deal!  In US dollars that works out
at about  US$92.    The dinner dance cost is CAN $99 (about US$66).

The band will include some of the best traditional jazz musicians in the
Toronto area:

1.Malcolm Higgins - trumpet  (formerly of Scotland's Clyde Valley Stompers)
2.Janet Shaw - clarinet, alto sax & baritone sax (H5JM)
3.Brian Towers - trombone   (H5JM)
4.Jamie MacPherson - banjo - Ragweed Jazz Band ( twice Canadian banjo
champion in the 1980's)
5.Bryan Day - string bass - Sensation Jazz band
6.Glenn Anderson - drums - Excelsior Jazz Band
7.Reide Kaiser - piano -  H5JM, Jeff Healey's Jazz Wizards etc

8.Making a guest appearance with the H5JM during the cocktail hour set will
be Kevin Clark on trumpet, who lived worked and played in New Orleans for
many years before coming to Toronto last year.

The organisers are planning for 150 people for the dinner and about 130 of
these places are already taken.  So, if you fancy a weekend in Toronto, at
