Way back in the 1950s I too used to listen to Willis Conover's VOA jazz
programme on a crackly shortwave radio when I was a reluctant 18 year old
National Serviceman in North Africa. His signature tune, which I recently
discovered was Neal Hefti's "Coral Reef", is still a particular favourite of
mine.
