Charlie Hools wrote (polite snip, do not take out of context)
"Well, yes. Exactly. When those guys are on, they can outplay just
about anybody. But steady dates at the same club, same small audience,
can
blow the charge off just about any band after awhile, and the big
question
is: how do you keep renewing this?"
BARBECUE? ;-)
Cheers,
Steve Barbone
PS. I'm listening to what Charlie says. He's been there, done that.
Imagine how difficult it is to do six nights a week, 9PM to 3AM, in a
joint like Condon's for a year or two or more. Especially when the
audience requests the same 25 tunes or so, night after night. To
constantly create in that envirnoment required a very special breed of
cat, and a large contribution by Mr. Dewars. Especially when followed by
day work in recording sessions, or as a studio musician. But as he would
put it, "It's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick."
