All I ever do is post videos of my band, but I have little else to offer the site, and we no longer have angry people on the site that were stirring conversations up back in the early 2000s. Wonder if Barbone is still around? And, there was his side kick that ran a sort of New Orleans style funeral band? They banded together in 2004 to berate me for not going “international” with my band after we played for the Spanish Royal Wedding (of the then Prince, now King). My argument was we had all the work we wanted 10 minutes from home, why would we want to travel! By the way, that wedding (& our band) was viewed by 1 billion televiewers worldwide, which is probably some kinda record for Our Kind of Music.

We lost two of our favorite members, Bob Ringwald & Marek. Marek, of course, was great to keep conversations happening on DJML, although I used to laugh at his sort of “blinders” he wore on his ears as to any type of Jazz that wasn’t totally “Classic” (according to him, anyway!). I met both, Bob, along with his daughter over dinner in Hollywood, and Marek & his lovely wife here in Madrid. Both absolutely great people. And, there are others I’ve met over the years in person, and I’ve “met” wonderful people on DJML, unfortunately only on-line. It’s a shame we don’t have an active list any longer, but that’s life! Anyway, I’ll continue pestering “ya’ll” with videos from time to time just to let you know I’m still kicking!

Here is another video we made up while we were each in our own homes during 4 months in the Covid period. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6HVQLXwmx8

And a shorter video of a tune not usually heard by Dixieland bands: Pink Panther https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghm8YEJYQig

And, the Pink Panther again in the Café Central Jazz Club, where we appear quite often (will be there again on 17/18 Feb): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0edUa1Ffn4

Jim, in Madrid
