Musicians, Volunteers, Sponsors, Donors and
Attendees:<BR><BR>It is with heavy hearts that
we must make the following announcement
-<BR><BR>The Hot Jazz Jubilee Board of Directors
met recently, and, after lengthy discussion and
much weighing of pros and cons, the decision was
reluctantly made to postpone the 2021 festival
to 2022.<BR><BR>Please know this decision was
not made lightly. Despite recent improvements in
getting people vaccinated against Covid, and the
drop in numbers of diagnosed cases and deaths,
it remains sadly apparent that America will not
be able to get “back to normal” until the end of
the year at the earliest. The safety and comfort
of our musicians, attendees and volunteers
remain our primary concern, and the risks to
everyone are just too considerable to
ignore.<BR><BR>A year ago, when we met with the
hotel over this same issue, we were convinced
that twelve months later all would be well
again. We moved forward with preparations,
booking the bands, handling hotel contracts,
gathering our volunteers, revamping our website,
and much more. We genuinely believed we
could pull it off this year. But the uncertainty
of what our California and Sacramento County
government status will be, what restrictions and
possible demands the airlines will implement,
and when the hotels will again be allowed to
book indoor events, make moving forward just too
uncertain. Besides, trying to accommodate
masking and social distancing while listening
and dancing to our fabulous music is
impossible…and certainly not any fun!<BR><BR>For
those of you who have already booked a room at
the DoubleTree or elsewhere, please contact the
hotel to cancel. We will notify you when you can
rebook for 2022. We will of course roll over all
prepaid badges from 2020 and 2021 to next
year.<BR><BR>We will miss seeing you and sharing
all the fun this year,<EM> but watch this
space!</EM> As soon as conditions allow, we will
be hosting some live music fundraising
events.<BR><BR>And watch out 2022! We will be
back…and so will all those wonderful Musicians
and Bands, as promised! (Yes, they have already
put us on their calendars!)<BR><BR>So mark YOUR
