Plus, our audiences (in Madrid, Spain) are far from knowing much at all about Jazz, so each has his own market to be concerned with. I toss in the “odd” tune once I have the audience in our pocket on live shows, and have done the same on our cds. Horrors! We even end our shows with What a Wonderful World followed by The Saints! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbtqgF11c3g) But, during the show, we usually will put in two or more lesser known songs. And, for those that moan about the “workhorse tunes”…. do them in your own style & with your very own talent, and it no longer is a workhorse, but something you have just created.

I don’t consider the sale of our records as “business” as such (although the cash is nice!). Yeah, I hadnt thought about the viability of obscure tunes vs popular until this very moment haha. But honestly i just love playing, performing and teasing out the lesser known stuff.
