I heard Tony Scott live in Nice back in 1976. I avoided him during regular hours, but he was at the second day jam session (I left around 4AM, after all the good musicians had gone, but some younger players, too modern for may taste, played on). He played both clarinet and the tenor saxophone. Too modern for my taste, although, when playing with swing musicians, he blended quite well.

Ceers

On Sun, 15 Sep 2019 at 14:15, <jim@kashprod.com> wrote:

Tony Scott played with our band around 1968/1969. Have never, ever heard a clarinet played like he played it! He could play Dixieland, also, but this link is quite modern. Stick with the video, and be sure to listen on something better than a cellphone. There are some great passages. If you don´t like the gyrations, just look away. Tony can be heard playing with the best….look for videos. Later, he got involved with meditation, and his music took a big swing. Put out gobs of recordings, though.

Yes, he was that mad on stage. Played louder than any trumpet! But, could play really low and very quiet, also. He stayed at my house while looking for a place to stay.
