For me to concentrate on chords, lead, singing and band direction, I just can't imagine standing and going above and beyond to entertain as well. Not everyone in the audience at a Jazz gig is a knowledgeable Jazz fan, and getting these people "into your pocket" during a gig requires more than just music.
