If I may put in a personal comment:<br>

This is typical of the city. What is touted as a draw to the rest of the <br>
world as a major reason to visit this city? Jazz. What is harder and harder <br>
to find unless you know someone who knows some hole-in-the-wall where there <br>
might be a band you would care to hear? Jazz. This town allows to decay, or <br>
actively destroys, everything it can which makes it different from any other <br>
medium sized city in the USA.<br>

Another example: The city charges $3 /hour at its parking meters. The City <br>
Council wanted to raise more money, so they extended to cut-off time from 5 <br>
PM to 7 PM. What they did not do was make provisions for reduced charges for <br>
people who work in the tourist service industry downtown. And public <br>
transportation, which used to be excellent, is now a bad joke. So, if your <br>
waiter seems to be overloaded, or there is a long wait for a bellman, you <br>
know at least one reason why many service businesses can't keep staff.<br>
