(Nice tune and lyrics too.)<br>
Then found an image of the Victor 27326 label confirming the vocalist to be Herb Jeffries.<br>
Recorded in Chicago on 28 December 1940, according to Brian Rust.<br>
And it is in my collection. I've just checked.<br>
It is purported to be composed (words and music) by Mercer Ellington. <br>
It was. Confirmed by the Copyright Entry on Jan. 5, 1945. So that that is not in doubt either.<br>
