Memorial Day weekend has meant music, fun, and good times with
family and friends in Old Sacramento. The Sacramento Music
Festival has brought the community together to enjoy great live
music, and in the beginning, and throughout those 44 years, assisted
in the development of Old Sacramento from a less desirable
neighborhood to the revitalized riverfront attraction it is today.

<P style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN-TOP: 20px"><SPAN
style="COLOR: #545454">For most of our 44 years, the festival has
been self-supporting. Unfortunately, for the last couple of
years the changing demographics and abundance of other activities
taking place on Memorial Day weekend have threatened the survival of
the festival. </SPAN></P>
<P style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN-TOP: 20px">The Music Festival
and the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society (STJS) has been a direct
influence in the education and development of many successful young
musicians and has been an event where many veteran musicians and
rising stars have come together, the young and old, to share
individual talents and catch up with friends, and we as fans are
able to enjoy the fun and the power behind it.</P>
<P style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN-TOP: 20px">The performing arts
is a critical piece to our overall development and STJS has brought
the Music Festival and many other live events to our members and
fans in the Sacramento community keeping the art of Traditional Jazz
alive, music originally performed by legendary greats like Louis
Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, and Turk Murphy. STJS is a
non-profit organization and as a non-profit organization, we exist
because of your donations and fundraisers like the Sacramento Music
Festival. </P>
