style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">Some years ago I had the privilege of getting a personal
tour of the Louis Armstrong archives at Queens College in NY. I heard excerpts
from the many tapes that Louis made over the years, held one of his trumpets and
saw the over 650 tape boxes that he decorated. </FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt"></FONT> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">The house where Louis and Lucille, his 4<SUP>th</SUP>
wife, lived beginning in 1942 was being prepared to be opened as a museum. I was
offered a tour of the house but it was too late that day and I never got back.

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt"></FONT> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"><FONT style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">On
my current visit to NY this week, I finally got to the house. As any of you who
have been there can attest, it is quite an experience to walk up the front steps
where Louis used to sit with the neighborhood kids and buy them ice cream when
the ice cream truck drove by, stand in the dining room where they entertained so
many guests, see the bed that Louis slept and died in and to see his den where
he spent most of his time. </FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt"></FONT> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">Since there were no children to change the house after
Lucille passed, it stayed the same until it could be opened as a museum.
Everything is the same as when Louis and Lucille lived there. </FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt"></FONT> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"><FONT style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">I
encourage everyone to visit the house. It is quite an experience.
