<html><head></head><body><div style="color:#000; background-color:#fff; font-family:verdana, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px"><div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1457803521278_4887">Marek might be amused to learn that over half a century ago, when the satirical TV show THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS came on TV, one of the early objects of deserved critical scrutiny was one Norrie Paramor, whose name appeared, preceded by arr. on so many recordings, and he also had it seemed an orchestra (see the label on the original 45rpm issue of Acker Bilk's "Stranger on the Shore" and so much, much more).</div><div><br></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1457803521278_5276">He did actually exist, and was plainly regarded by EMI records as a man with some expertise. <br></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1457803521278_5279" dir="ltr">The critic on the satirical TV show demurred ... <br></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1457803521278_5102" dir="ltr">He was apparently essential to the money coming in for Acker, who would it seems have had even less had Paramor not been allotted the whack his critic that night was sure the ubiquitous hack did not deserve.
