How long would an audience endure if lip-synching were the standard instead of live singing?<BR>

Also, the conductor makes sure the orchestra and performers are together...if an actor trips over something and is late in his delivery, can synthesized music automatically adjust and vamp or change the tempo if needed?<BR>
