I HAVE NEVER SEEN A LIST OF THE '100 EVERGREENS', WHICH INDEED MAY ACTUALLY NUMBER MORE LIKE 250! I asked our friends in OKOM if they had ever seen such a list, and have received no replies. That being the case, I will soon try to compile a list of the '100' and put it on the air for comment. I will include it in my forthcoming book, "Mouldy Figge Tales", which consists of several chapters; each containing several 'stories'. For example, the OKOM story is part of a chapter entitled, "You're a Moldy Fig If ----". I will assemble the list by going thru my record collection. If I hadn't lost my 'Hot Discograpy" (Pannassie) many years ago, the task might be easier. I welcome you making up such a list - and I will credit you for the effort. It will be hard to decide which tunes belong and which don't; but to give you an example of my thinking, I'd be inclined to omit such nice tunes that Bunk introduced to the repetoire as "One Sweet Letter From You" and :"Over the Waves" (George Lewis' gem), but certainly include, for example again, such popular multi-genre tunes as "Avalon" and "Indiana". I will only list in passing the Blues in C and in B-flat, giving only outstanding examples of Bessie's and Ma's (eg, "CC Rider) best. This because if I listed every blues, it would get out of sight. Incidentally, one chapter includes the words or partial words of the 'important' great hot jazz tunes, like "I've Got the World In A Jug, Stopper's In My Hand---" (but not, "Bucket's Got A Hole In It", for example - I'm trying for something nobler or more socially significant. As of now, MFT is about 80% completed and I shall soon begin the search for a publisher. My inclination is that if I can't find one, I'll not self publish, but will leave the manuscript to one of my kids who is interested.
