I have it on as I write Jim, and am enjoying it very much. Your post was
one of the few which have come through on DJML for what seems like quite
a time.
I'm about equidistant from Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool in the
UK and have mainly lost touch with the local OKOM scene since the Covid
pandemic seemed like a good time to call a halt to my active
involvement. Jazz is still being played in my area but the loss of too
many good friends over recent years and the decision to call it a day by
others have meany that I'd find it very difficult to field a band.
Having been lucky enough to have a regular line-up for so long I really
didn't want to have to go back to putting a band of subs out. Equally I
must say that I'm the same age as you and setting out in the early hours
of the morning to drive a considerable distance home lost its charm over
recent times. I'm happy just to look back and be grateful that I was
able to continue something I started in 1958 for so long.
These are three YouTube videos of one of the bands I played with in
action at what was its final concert in 2010 after the death of its
founder and leader.

You mail was very welcome and I'm looking forward to listening to the
rest of it. My best wishes to you and to all of a similar vintage who
are still active.
Best Regards
Keith Garner
