Word comes from Austin, TX, that Capt. Dick Williams, USMC Ret., passed away on April 17, 2023 in Austin, TX, where he had recently relocated to live near his younger son, Tyler. It was my privilege to be the "anchor" tuba player for Dick's "Jazzsea Jammers" open jam sets at festivals (Fresno, San Diego, Pismo Beach and others), and to play under his leadership in the South Bay Traditional Jazz Society's "South Bay Jammers" for more than 15 years.
