[Dixielandjazz] Steve Yocum RIP

I have just read in "The Syncopated Times" that Steve "Uncle Yoke" Yocum
died of leukemia on the 4th of September; he was 69.
While I was not too keen on the Black Dogs because of often unswinging
rhythem and too much hokum, I heard him at the Breda (the Netherlands)
Festival with more conservative bands, both singing and playing trombone.
By then, as a Netherlands resident, he was "local talent."  He was an
excellent trombonist and a charismatic leader - wherever he played he
seemed to be the leader of the band, whether with pick-up groups or at jam
sessions.  I was looking forward to hearing his hot trombone again, but
this is not to be.
