[Dixielandjazz] The Dukes, again!

Sure, Jim,
A controversial band. I have heard all the Dukes' Audiofidelity records
and only liked the two with Armstrong.
But I have also heard the early band with a very young Pete Fountain (RCA)
and found it pretty good, and the two Chicago LPs, as well as the
Disneyland recordings I find excellent (just listened to one of them, with
Herb Ellis on guitar - wow!
So it must have been the rhythm section. However, I've heard their rhythm
players with other, older, Crescent City musicians, an those are hot and
swinging. So what is it - I cannot really put a finger on the flaw, but,
somehow, the whole sounds less than its parts.
I have lost either my speakers or the sound card, so I cannot watch the
video. The computer mavin will be here on Tuesday, and we'll see.
Cheers
Cheers
