Hi Marek,
In answer to your question - "who knows Thomas l'Etienne?
I first met and played with Thomas when he came to New Zealand with Lillian Boutte' for David Paquette's Waiheke Island of Jazz Festival in the 90s.
These festivals were highly successful for a long time ( 14years in all ) - so successful that David would often refer to himself ( jokingly )as the "George Weiner" of the South Pacific!
Last time I saw Thomas was 2014 when I was in Big Lou's International All Stars at the Flumserberg jazz festival and the Davos Sounds Good festival in Switzerland - a band put together by entrepreneur and clarinettist Walter Weber ( who had a great deal to do with those festivals in those days )whose members came from U.K.,Italy,Germany,France and N.Z.
He is a beautiful clarinet player and a great tenor sax man.
Not only that - he is a really nice guy and very humorous too!
Thanks for posting the video of Thomas doing "Panama "Marek.
I loved the performance.Thomas was terrific and the trio backing him really swung.
Best wishes and a Happy New Year to all list mates.
Lindsay Meech ( Auckland ,New Zealand ).
