On *Wednesday week the 4th of March* between 7.30 & 10.00 pm the Victorian
Jazz Club is proud to present  *Michael McQuaid & his Late Hour Boys*.
Michael is now living & working in England & is returning to Australia for
a very brief visit .   Michael has agreed to put together the Late Hour
Boys for one performance for the Victorian Jazz Club.

*This special event will be held at the Oakleigh – Carnegie RSL , 95
Drummond Street , Oakleigh*.

*Michael McQuaid* will be playing trumpet & reeds. Appearing with him will
be *Jason Downes* reeds, *Rob Moffatt* trombone & vocals, *John Scurry*
banjo & guitar, *Richard Mander* bass & tuba *, Ian Smith* drums ,
washboard , trumpet & vocals and *Sandra Talty* drums & vocals

A special night of red  hot small group jazz , blues & ballads for dancers
and listeners alike  . This will be your only chance to catch this special
group of musicians who played to a sell out audience for the Victorian Jazz
Club last year .  A  night not to be missed !

Doors open at 6.00 pm at the Oakleigh RSL for dinner and the music starts
at 7.30 pm. The Oakleigh  RSL is an easy walk from the Oakleigh Railway
Station and there is plenty of parking in the immediate vicinity. You can
settle in & enjoy dinner in the bistro or the jazz room before a night of
great jazz.  Bookings are not required for dinner in the function room
where the jazz will be held  but if you wish to dine in the Bistro it is
best to book on 0487 958 338.

Everybody is  welcome. You don’t have to be a member of the Victorian Jazz
Club to attend.

*Coming up in 2020 on Wednesday nights for the Victorian Jazz Club will be
:  *

*Wednesday 18th of March* – *at Clayton RSL* - *Heather Stewart & her Dirty
Ragtimers Band*  - *now resident in France , accomplished violinist &
vocalist  Heather Stewart will be  back in Australia for a short visit. On
her last trip in 2017 she also played to a full house at the VJC with a
program of hot swinging jazz , vocals & ballads with some western swing &
gypsy jazz thrown into the mix.   Appearing with Heather will be French
guitarist Lucas Montagnier,  John Scurry guitar, Eamon McNelis trumpet &
vocals , Steve Grant piano and Howard Cairns bass. To give you an idea of
Heather’s music there are some great clips on Utube of her current work in
Europe with the Dirty Ragtimers . *

*Thursday the 26th of March  ** –  The Second  Famous Piano Lunch for 2020
– midday to 3.00 pm – not a VJC event .             No Cover charge ,
admission  is free & no bookings required –  six of Melbourne’s top jazz
pianists   * * will each perform a 15 minute solo set followed by one
number each accompanied by a special guest.  Performer details next month.
With the temporary closure of East Malvern for renovations  the Piano
Lunches will also be held at Oakleigh RSL , 95 Drummond Street , Oakleigh. *
