[Dixielandjazz] LU ELLIOTT

In 1967 ABC Paramount records in USA issued a 12" LP, catalogue number
ASCS-584,  by Lu Elliott. She was a vocalist who had recorded with Duke
Ellington and Erskine Hawkins in the years 1949 to 1951.

The band leader and arranger for the session was Johnny Pate, a bass
player with many recordings to his credit.

The reason I mention this is, the album title was WAY OUT FROM DOWN
UNDER and the photograph on the jacket shows a lady, presumably Lu,
feeding or patting a kangaroo.

The photograph of the jacket and the lady on eBay are low quality.

Presumably the LP was recorded in Australia, possibly with some
Australian musicians in the band.

Does anyone have any information on an Australian visit, probably in
1966 or 1967, by these artists?

Here's hoping

Best wishes

Jack Mitchell
