[Dixielandjazz] Florida visit

Thanks for the info on Jazz in St. Pete, Florida.  The hotel mentioned, where the band is playing, is actually one of the hotels I had been looking at.  We are booked into one nearby, though.  However, we unfortunately arrive close to midnight on a Wednesday (in Feb 2019), and fly back to Madrid on the following Tuesday.  

We have made plans to go hear listmate Barb Jordan on the Monday.  Is it Scarapini's in Brandenton, Barb?

I went to my last year of High School in St. Pete, but haven't been back since.  I recall that there was a band playing on the beaches then, and had heard they were still going on years later.  I never heard them, being underage then!  

I started a Dixieland band at the high school, which continued for awhile after I left.  The clarinetist later had a life time of playing due to that little band, he later told me.  He has since past away.  The trumpeter married our girl pianist.  I believe he became a mortician.  Maybe we shouldn't have played St. James Infirmary so much!  

Going back to St. Pete for a family wedding (my wife's family}.  She's from Ireland, but has many, many more relatives in the U.S. than I do....and, I'm American!
