Whilst I was a fan of both Roys in the Alex Welsh Band, I have to say that Roy Williams became my very favourite hot jazz trombone player almost as soon as he joined Alex. Not long after that, I migrated to Australia but I collected all of their records and dug Roy and Al from afar.
