Dear Jazz Friends,

Our local Internet radio station, Sound of Spitfire, has it's official launch today. 

At 9pm local time (20:00 utc) tonight, I will presenting my third 'Now You Has Jazz, Jazz, Jazz' show.
In a break with my established policy of playing recordings by the American pioneers of our music, this weeks show highlights one of the most important figures on the British traditional jazz scene, a musician totally devoted to his art, and a warm hearted and kind soul, who did much to help me in my early days as a jazz drummer.

Stanley Kenneth Sims - Ken to us, passed away a year ago on 29th March 2017. He has left a huge gap on the jazz scene.

In an hour, I can only scratch the surface, but you will hear recordings going back to 1957 with Cy Laurie, on to Acker Bilk and with Sr Rosetta Tharpe and the Sims Wheeler Vintage Jazz Band. 

In my association of over 40 years, we worked together on so many different projects and Ken formed his most successful musical partnership with clarinettist, Dave Bailey. They'll be a selection of tracks featuring the two musicians in the show.

The show has to be caught live as there is no podcast. If you miss it this evening, there is another chance at 11pm BST on Wednesday (22:00 utc).
