the Parker nonsense as I recall it had the statement
"the faceless man, for almost no photograph exists..."
THUS EXCLUDING OTHER GROUNDS FOR AN ALLEGATION OF FACELESSNESS
I hope !!!!
The Doug Suggs point was that there is a photograph but without a face
and otherwise anything else you'd expect to see in a photo of a pianist at a session.
the left hand edge takes that off. It's an amazing image.
Other than as an expression of interest or confession of ignorance the phrase "never heard of..." commonly evokes a wince ... All those blasted darlings whose feigned interest is only in somebody famous.
For some reason the original Suggs recordings have been taken off YouTube --
but other than the added bass and drums the presentation linked below is pretty close
-- and so, if you want to plunge into the even obscurer, is the piano accompaniment on a couple of 1930s recordings by Little David (whose surname was it seems Alexander, he should not be confused with Mr. Eldridge, le Roy David, or with a Dave Alexander who came along later). Or with the Alecsandy Brothers, a splendid spoof on sentimentalscottery committed to film by Stanley Baxter -- and do not say he played both roles and used split screen camera-work (in pre-computer days) to save the cost of hiring a second kilt! Music, please!

Well, do a few hundred pictures prove he was not faceless? So what if he had been photographed countless times, and even filmed?
I've never heard of Doug Suggs.
Cheers
