Like Norm Vickers I missed out on Bob Dylan somewhere along the line, so also can’t comment.
However, for jazz people (particular singers) interested in the joy of lyrics, I always recommend that they read and absorb Philip Furua’s 'The Poets Of Tin Pam Alley. A History of America’s Great Lyricists (1990)’.
For those interested in the subject , I also suggest that you read 'The B Side. The Death of Tin Pan Alley and the Rebirth of the Great American Song’ by Ben Yagoda (2015).
