Try Frenchmen Street just off Esplanade Avenue. A place called "The Maison"
is at one end of the entertainment area of the street and "The Spotted Cat"
is at the other end. Stay on Frenchmen Street and do not go farther into the
neighborhood than the restaurant on the corner opposite the Spotted Cat.

Buffa's Bar and Restaurant on Esplanade Avenue also has music.

If you want to splurge one night, try the "Palm Court Jazz Cafe" on Decatur
Street (dark on Monday and Tuesday), but it can be expensive.

Sometimes the Norwegian Seamen's Church on Prytania Street has secular
musical events and there is a weekly jazz service in English. You can get
there on the Saint Charles streetcar which has a stop within one block of
the church.

All these places have web sites.
