[Dixielandjazz] stomp off LPs

Some years ago, I discovered a cache of Stomp Off LPs from the 80s in the
library of my alma mater, Brandeis University.  Over the next few years, I
stopped off at the library every other week or so on my way to work and,
using my alumnus privileges, checked out a few records and digitized them
at home.

Now I have all this music on CD.  Rather than have it languish in my
collection as it's languishing in Brandeis's, I'm making it available to
anyone who wants it.  I've talked to some of the musicians involved and
they don't seem to mind.  In order to avoid possible legal repercussions,
I'm not charging anything, and I won't offer any recordings that, as far as
I can tell, are available on CD--so, no Black Eagles, no Marty Grosz, no
Grand Dominion.  You can get their music through their websites.

And if any musician does object, I'll remove that name from the list.

But the vast majority of this stuff, as far as I can tell, is out of print
and SO has no plans to reissue it (as I was told after inquiring about my
favorite group, the Hall Bros. Jazz Band).  Many of the bands are defunct,
e.g. a wonderful ensemble out of San Francisco called the Crysanthemum
Ragtime Band.  There are lots of international bands in the collection, as
well as solo pianists and small groups--just a wealth of material by a lot
of talented people.

I've made an Excel spreadsheet of the collection (not hard to do once you
get it onto iTunes) and will send it to anyone who wants it, if it doesn't
attach here.  Just write to me at amoore58 at gmail.com.  It's currently
sorted by artist but you can sort it by album or song title, too.  So if
you're looking for a nice rendition of "Sweet Mumtaz," well, there are four
of them here.  Let me know, and I'll send you an mp3.  If you want a whole
album, I will ask for a couple of bucks for postage.

I really hope somebody takes me up on this.  This music is too good to let
die.
