I was once accused of talking rubbish about Eubie Blake on a basis of Wikipedia.Actually I got information from the man direct, but anyway -- if you look him up in Wikipedia you'll find photographic representation of documents, like the birth certificate which reveals that he was 96 or 97 (I can't be bothered checking) when he celebrated his 100th birthday a week before he died. Apparently he added I think three years to his age on the occasion of his final marriage. Some of these entries are remarkably well documented, and some serious academics do mark their gratitude by telling students that on this or that topic the Wiki entry is safe and deserves recommendation.
