Carolina this past Saturday.  Don had a long career with most of the big names of the big band era.  He also was lead trumpet in the show bands in Nevada, Florida, and Georgia.  He toured for many years with his road group Southern Fried.  His old friend and drummer Bob Lynn gave me a chance to travel with Don and Jane and it was a musical and personal highlight.  His trumpet artistry amazed his fellow musicians and the public.  He was a thoughtful and unselfish leader and a honor to have played with and for him.  Sincerest sympathies to Jane and his many friends.
