Hi Norman,
I was very sorry to see that Marcus Belgrave had passed. I actually had a gig with him once, back in the mid-sixties, at a "Your Father's Mustache" in Somer's Point, NJ. Marcus could play any style, and this was a Chicago-style trad band made of players mostly from the Philadelphia area. We would play on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and the banjo/trombone sing-along bands would play at night. Marcus was living in Chester, PA, at the time, and I drove him back there from the shore in my '53 Chevy. We sang Monk songs on the way. I've enjoyed following Marcus's fine career over the years.
