[Dixielandjazz] Robert Veen R.I.P

Sad news indeed.
Although Robert Veen said that he was a 'bopper at heart," it luckily
didn't show in his playing with the bands Bert mentioned, nor other bands I
have heard. He was a swinging player, hotter than Hades, although he could
be balladic and mellow, and a fantastic arranger. His tribute to Jimmy
Lunceford was truly outstanding.
I tried to find out his age, but failed. Anyway, he passed away too soon
and too young - he couldn't have been very old.
As long as the records are around, he won't be forgotten.
