The 16th annual Healdsburg (Ca) Jazz Fest concluded two weeks ago with a very successful New Orleans style jazz concert. Called New Orleans Day on the Green, it was hosted by Dry creek Vineyard winery of Healdsburg, Sonoma County California.
Three bands performed. The Russian River Ramblers of Healdsburg was the first group. The Ramblers play an original style of NO jazz. The second band to play was the Dixie Giants (also Sonoma county based)who play a more contemporary style of jazz. The final band to play was the St Gabriel's New Orleans Brass Band from Oakland, Ca. They played traditional NO Brass band music with a cajon Influence. Three different bands each playing a style of the music we all love.
The weather was perfect, and many who came said it was the most enjoyable concert of the two week festival which is always the first week in June.
