For immediate release:

On Thursday June 11th from 3:00-7:00pm (Central time), LARRY CORLEY, host of WQNA 88.3FM's "The Larry Corley Show / Jazz Now and Then" program will highlight recent show biz biographies of celebrated entertainment figures.

At 3:00pm Corley airs an interview with actress CINDY WILLIAMS. Williams has appeared in a number of movies and television programs throughout her career including the 1973 award winning George Lucas film "American Graffiti." However, she is probably best remembered by television fans for her role as Shirley Feeney on the long running sitcom "Laverne and Shirley." She has just released her autobiography, "Shirley I Jest: a Storied Life" published by Taylor Trade Publishing. She shares highlights from her life and career. Further information can be found at:
http://www.thisiscindywilliams.com

Immediately following at 3:30pm, Corley will rebroadcast his interview with actress/singer MOLLY RINGWALD. Ringwald became well known to movie goers for her roles in the 1980's hit films "Sixteen Candles," "The Breakfast Club" and "Pretty in Pink." She recently returned to her first love, singing, with the release of a CD of standards titled "Except Sometimes." She discusses her musical influences and the process of creating her CD. Further information can be found at

At 4:00pm Corley puts a spotlight on entertainment legend, Judy Garland. June 10th marks her 93rd birthday anniversary. Corley pays tribute to her with an hour of interviews. First he talks with author RANDY SCHMIDT about the new publication "Judy Garland on Judy Garland: Interviews and Encounters." Published by Chicago Review Press, the book is a compilation of interviews she gave throughout her career from the time she was a young teen to the time of her last public concert just three months before her untimely death in 1969. Garland had a reputation for being a brilliant raconteur and that aspect of her personality comes through in these interviews. More information can be found at:

At 4:30pm the focus on Garland continues with rebroadcasts of two interviews. Garland fan MICHAEL SIEWERT owns what is believed to be the largest Garland memorabilia collection in the world, including her film costumes. He talks about his collection and offers suggestions for new fans seeking to learn more about her films and recordings. Details about Siewert's collection can be found at: JUDYGARLAND.COM

Following this interview, Garland historian/author JOHN FRICKE talks about his admiration for the legendary performer which began during childhood. As a young teen he saw Garland perform 'live' and shares his recollection.

At 5:00pm Corley welcomes BRENT PHILLIPS, author of "Charles Walters: the Director Who Made Hollywood Dance." The hour is devoted to a discussion of the life and career of the previously unsung director of some of Hollywood's most celebrated golden age films including the Judy Garland classics "Easter Parade" and "Summer Stock." The book is published by the University Press of Kentucky. More information can be found at:

Both JOHN FRICKE and BRENT PHILLIPS will make personal appearances at the Judy Garland/Wizard of Oz festival taking place June 10-13 in Garland's home town of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Fricke's lectures include "Fun Facts about Oz," "Judy in Concert," "The Oz That Almost Woz," and "Away From the Yellow Brick Road." Both authors appear together for a special presentation "Judy and Chuck Walters." Festival details can be found at:
http://www.judygarlandmuseum.com/wizard-of-oz-festival

At 6:00pm Corley talks with JOHN SZWED, author of "Billie Holiday: the Musician and the Myth." The book was published by Viking press to commemorate Holiday's 100th birthday anniversary this year. Szwed corrects some misinformation contained in Holiday's autobiography "Lady Sings the Blues" and offers an analysis of her musical gifts. More information can be found at:
