Right you are, Dan.
The 2 LPs were reissued on the Good Time Jazz CD "Favorites". "Waiting..."
was recorded in Los Angeles on January 19, 1950. In the band were:
Turk Murphy - trombone
Bob Scobey - trumpet
Bill Napier - clarinet
Burt Bales - piano
Bill Newman - banjo
Squire Girsback - tuba
Stan Ward - drums
There was a short vocal at the beginning of the tune which opened with the
sound of water, the whistle of a boat and a voice which shouts "steam boat".
Are we celebrating the 65th anniversary of this session?
Stan

Dear all,
Happy New Year! Regarding "Waitin' For the Robert E. Lee," I seem to recall
a great version recorded by Turk Murphy's Jazz Band. I think it might be on
one of the two Good Time Jazz LPs issued in the late '50s/early '60s. I'm
pretty sure it's performed as an instrumental.
All the best,
