Jabbo didn’t have a job with sick days, medical benefits or a pension like most of us on this list.

Jabbo gave his life to music - his accomplishments helped form the music we are privileged to hear and play today -

Jabbo Smith (1908-1991) Those who heard him play/sing in 1983 were blessed simply to be in his presence. They could have - and should have - collected a donation to help ease his burdens for the last seven years of his life. 

Did Jabbo disappoint you because he didn’t die young like Bix - or Clifford Brown?
