Sidney was definitely one of a kind. We French still have a very soft spot for him. Any French man nowadays knows at least two jazzmen : Sidney and Louis.

Nobody carbon copied Bechet and sounded the same. Not even Wilber.
Some French players came closer, but never quite got the sheer power of
Bechet's playing!
