Hi Andy,
My band has been playing this tune for a number of years, the main
inspiration being Billie Holliday, although there are other nice recordings
in my record collection by Bunny Berigan and Ruby Braff.
I do have the Albert Publication "1001 Hit Songs" and a fake book containing
the tune and they both have the 'F' note for six beats as the conclusion to
the second eight. However the chords for bars 15 and 16 are not as complex
as you are using. The printed music just shows: |Eb9 / / / | / / C7 / |.
My ear does not hear anything incorrect with the melody or the chord
progression when we play it. Maybe that is because all piano players seem to
add ninths to every chord they play these days and you get used to the
sound.
Nice tune!
Best,
Grah

Subject: [Dixielandjazz] Question about Did I Remember
Hi,
I've recently come across the song Did I Remember (Donaldson & Adamson).
I have a lead sheet, but I'm not sure it is right. So I wanted to ask anyone
who knows the tune.
The sheet is in Eb. In the last two bars of the second 8, leading into the
bridge, the melody note is an F with the chords Eb9 Gm7b5, C7. Whilst this
can be made to work, I wondered if the melody note should really be an Eb.
What do others play?
Thanks for the help
And if you don't know the tune, here's a great version
