[Dixielandjazz] What it means when the DJML software puts you on hold for bounces

A "bounce" is when an email from DJML cannot be delivered to your inbox for some reason.  And either your internet provider, or an intervening server sends an email back to DJML, explaining that the email could not be delivered.

In "the old days" this used to mean someone's inbox was full.  Nowadays, it can be due to network congestion, or an internet provider changing name servers or any of many other reasons.

But the DJML software doesn't pay attention to the reason.  After a certain number of bounces it will send you an email asking for confirmation that you still want to subscribe.  If you don't respond within a few days, the software automatically puts you on hold.

Since the software does this after some number of bounces, you can reduce the likelihood by subscribing in digest format.  You get fewer emails, therefore fewer chances of a bounce.

We've seen an increase lately, in the number of members on hold due to bouncing, many of them using Yahoo email.  Yahoo may be undergoing server changes or maintenance that makes them unavailable at times.

You can set the digest option through your subscription options page.

Here's the format:

That's the link to my personal subscription page...at the very end, you can see how to format your email address to get to your specific page.

Thanks for being members of DJML.
