I'm pretty sure "Alexander's Ragtime Band" was composed in 1911.  It was 
recorded in that year by the Victor Military Band though the recording 
wasn't issued until 1912..

Quite so, Roger, but the copyright period is 70 years after the death of the 
composer, not the date of composition. Irving Berlin died in 1989.
