I found the link on the "Clestial phenomenon" email. Even though the text
suggests that most poeple know Lipsking as a direct link to the stride
masters, I know him mainly as the producer of some of those fantastic LPs
in the RCA Vintage series many years ago. Michael Hashim was the best
soloist with the Widespread Depression Orchestra. I had the pleasure of
hearing him with the Pizza Express All Stars in London, and the repertoire
was not warhorses, but rather things like "Thing;s Ain't What They Used To
Be," "Good Queesn Bess" and other hardly overplayed numbers (not all
Ellingtonia).
