The German Jazz Trophy 2014 has been awarded to Chris Barber.
Probably the most traditional Jazz musician ever to recieve this honor, surely the first trombone player.
The event has been filmed, the first 12 minutes or so are now available. Alas the sound balance is not too well.
Chris had to play from a wheelchair, since he had broken his ankle. The good news is that last weekend he was able to play the full concert again standing. He is a medical miracle.
Of course the announcer does this show in German , since it was in Stuttgart.
