Yeah, but could you understand what Bill said? You know how those foreigners talk... Especially those on the wrong side of the earth...

Subject: [Dixielandjazz] Visit to Sydney

I was recently in Sydney, Australia, and met up with list-mate Bill Haesler
for lunch very near "The Rocks", the area that Bill & his band played in for
years. We had a great visit at a restaurant overlooking the famous Sydney
Bridge & the Opera House. Bill lives not too far from the area, albeit by
ferry boat.

It was great to meet another from our list, especially since Bill is our
sort of "unelected expert on all things". Everything I seem to forget
immediately, Bill files away in his head for future reference. Hopefully,
he won't bother to file too many of the nonsensical things I came up with
during our lunch!

Seems that "The Rocks" housed jazz in every nook & cranny in the past, but
it is hard to find anywhere anymore. Bill is now searching for a new place
for his band.

At 73 (me) & 83 (Bill), we shared the luncheon table with two young & pretty
Irish girls. The fact that one was my wife & the other was my sister-in-law
didn't stop Bill from enjoying himself! I have photos if anyone is
interested. (Is that ok to share them with someone on the list, Bill?)

This really is a great list, and the two of us have been on it from fairly
early on. It was great to finally be able to meet Bill.

Jim
