[Dixielandjazz] Greatest Trombone Solo

Well said, Steve...!!! The word "Best", belongs in sports and other
objective endeavors, NOT in the arts (which are extremely subjective)!!!
What one person likes, is another mans poison... What in the world
constitutes the best??? Technical prowess? Artistic feel? Timing? There
are too many variables to count!!
You can say, rather, that you like so and so as a player - (Two of MY
favorite trombone players are and were Skip Diringer and Jimmy Haislip from
St. Louis)
It all boils down to who you like!!! Get it??? and it's OKAY to like more
than one!!!

"Best"?

You must all be nuts. How can you so casually assert that one trombone
solos is the "best"? Have you heard every trombone solo?
Have you even heard the Sandy Williams/Rex Stewart Paris recordings and
the McGarity Quartet CD? I'll bet you haven't.
Certainly they were both fine jazz players, but....Dickie Wells, Jay C
Higginbotham, Tea, Bill Harris, Lawrence Brown...
Maybe you should look for the"worst".
George "Ironhead" Brunies?
