Dear Listers:

List members and friends who are in the Austin, TX area this weekend are welcome to check out the opening concert of the Austin Traditional Jazz Society.  The concert will be played by the Thrift Set Orchestra, one of the hottest jazz ensembles playing in the Austin area.  Thrift Set is led by Jon Doyle, a Chicago transplant who has established himself as a talented, hard-driving reed player with a variety of notable ensembles including Asleep at the Wheel, Tuba Skinny and White Ghost Shivers.  

Thrift Set Orchestra is patterned after the small big bands of the Twenties and Thirties.  The orchestra will consist of Jon Doyle and Lyon Graulty (saxophone and clarinet), David Jellema (cornet and clarinet), Mark Gonzales (trombone), Albanie Falletta (guitar), Westen Borghesi (banjo) and Ryan Gould (string bass).
